Hi, I’m Francesca, founder of Maternatura.
When I started creating eco-organic hair products in 2014, one of the most common questions women asked me was:
“But are silicones really bad for your hair?”
I want to explain to you, simply and transparently, why I chose not to use silicones and what really happens to your hair when you do use them.
🌿 What silicones are and why they give that immediate “wow effect”
Silicones are synthetic ingredients that coat the hair with a shiny, silky film. The short-term result is fantastic:
-
instantly smoother hair,
-
less frizz,
-
immediate shine.
But this effect is purely cosmetic. The hair fiber underneath that film remains exactly the same.
🌿 Why I chose not to use them
During my years of experience in my family’s cosmetic laboratory, I saw the real results on clients:
-
hair gradually becoming heavier,
-
harder to manage,
-
dull once the silicone washed off,
-
less responsive to truly nourishing treatments.
Silicones aren’t “dangerous”, but they don’t offer any real or lasting benefit.
🌿 My natural alternative to silicones
I spent years searching for a way to achieve the same “silky effect” without deception. And we succeeded with:
-
lightweight plant oils,
-
phyto-keratins,
-
biotechnological active ingredients,
-
biodynamic extracts.
These ingredients don’t just coat the hair—they nourish, hydrate, and regenerate it.
The result is hair that becomes genuinely stronger and healthier over time.
🌿 How to know if your hair is “suffocated” by silicones
If after switching to natural shampoo your hair feels dull or rough, don’t worry: it’s just “breathing” again.
This is completely normal!
It takes a few weeks to eliminate synthetic films and return to its natural balance.
🌿 My invitation
Try observing your hair not for the immediate effect after blow-drying, but for how it feels after weeks of true care.
That’s where natural beauty begins.
