BIO BEAUTY ROUTINE SCALP AND OILY HAIR:
SEBUM-REGULATING TREATMENT
THE CAUSES
The hydrolipidic film that covers the skin and, of course, also the scalp is formed by the secretions of the sebaceous and sweat glands. The hydrolipidic film has the task of keeping the skin and scalp soft, protecting them from external aggressions and preserving their natural bacterial flora. By combing, brushing and simply touching the hair, we promote the distribution of the hydrolipidic film along the length of the hair. In the right measure, this protective veil ensures protection from chemical damage, antibacterial and antifungal action, softness of the scalp and hair, regulation of water balance. The sebaceous glands, as the name implies, are responsible for the production of sebum but do not have a homogeneous distribution, in fact they are much more abundant and active in particular skin areas, such as the face and head. The entire skin surface secretes about 1-2 grams of sebum in 24 hours. The production of sebum is directly controlled by the secretion of sex hormones, especially male ones (androgens). An alteration of the latter is the cause of numerous skin imperfections (oily skin, acne, hair loss). Furthermore, the sebaceous glands are surrounded by a dense network of blood and lymphatic vessels and by a large group of nerve bundles. Therefore, the correct functioning of glandular activity strictly depends on the supply of nutritional elements present in the blood, on the constant elimination of waste products (catabolites) and on a balanced functioning of sensory stimuli (stress, tension, etc.). The factors that most frequently cause hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands, generating seborrhea are: family predisposition, an imbalance of androgen hormones, stress, aggressive cosmetics that can trigger an excessive reaction of the sebaceous glands, drugs, inadequate diet. It should also be remembered that the overabundance of sebum clogs the follicles, hindering the growth of healthy hair.
